First of all, our leading lady, Carolina Espiro, booked her 3rd national commercial – for the month!

And second, our 1st AD, Mr. Jake Floch, is marrying his honey (and my wonderful, colorful friend) Hannah tomorrow in Escondido. It should be an epic show down between Christian tradition and the out-of-control party animals that these two really are.

Our locations manager, Kat, now lives in Hawaii where she is training for work with YWAM.

And our beloved faculty advisor, Ms. Lisa Swain, has started her Ph.D.

As for me, I’m keeping up with the rest of them, working hard and wishing I could make another movie for as inexpensive as Still but enjoying the fact that Still continues to have influence on the lives of complete strangers as well as continued impact in my own life.

The last festival to hear back from is Heartland in Indiana.

After this, it was Kyle’s idea to contact every stillbirth and bereavement service around, send them the movie and just give it away. It seemed like the best way to put the thing to bed.

But behind our lack of wrinkles and stretch marks are hours of the voices of parents who had, who did, who knew. I almost forgot how many lifetimes it was before today.

The film festivals – LA, Cleveland, Phoenix – were good for reflection, not just self-promotion. Overall it felt more like time for us as filmmakers, as a former duo, to wrap our minds around the past and the present. We would like to one day deliver Still into the hands of people who are in constant contact with the parents and families struck by sudden grief, the true theme, as Kyle stressed to the audience Sunday afternoon, that touches us all, even if we have never lost a baby.

I can’t stop listening to this song by The Civil Wars. I heard it clearly for the first time on my drive home from the Phoenix Film Festival. It seemed so appropriate.

Kyle and I are going to make a trek out there with significant others in tow. The fest is giving us two all access passes and also requiring me to do a Q&A afterward! How scary!

But it’s exciting. I have a lot of love for that city and itch to be back there in April when all the flowers will be in bloom. I can’t wait for that drive.

Less than 10% of the films that apply get in and this festival is an “academy qualifier” meaning doing well in this fest gets you one step closer to the Academy Awards (or in our case, the Student Academy Awards).

The fest is March 24th through April 3rd

Indie Distribution Fest (and I think I might be scamed by this one… at least I’m kind of nervous about it)

Rejected from POW Fest last week which kinda sucked but whatever. I guess after getting into LA Women’s I expected the women’s festivals to like Still.

I am trying to get an internship at NBC Universal right now but if you’ve been reading the news slash watching 30 Rock you know that NBC is being sold by GE to Comcast and everyone is running around with their hair on fire. We’ll see what happens but I’m really hoping this one pulls through. The internship might consist of moving desks around the office but that’s better than reading scripts and writing coverage. *fist pump!* Updates to come.
